To land a job in this industry, you either become a sniper\u2014or you\u2019re out of the game.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s be honest: our <em>Careers<\/em> inbox is a Dantean circle of hell. But not because candidates aren\u2019t good: we\u2019re sure many of you have the right weapons to work with us. <strong>The real problem? You\u2019re not aiming properly.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now it\u2019s <strong>2026<\/strong>, and <strong>simply \u201cbeing eager to work\u201d is no longer enough to become part of an agency<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe we sound presumptuous saying this (we\u2019re aware of it). But we assure you that <strong>the same applies to the vast majority of communication agencies<\/strong>, at least in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>Are you trying to build a future in communication? Then you should first understand what\u2019s really happening in our industry. Here\u2019s the whole truth, along with a few <strong>tips on how to keep your application from ending up in the trash<\/strong> (where 90% of emails go).<\/p>\n<h2>There are plenty of job openings. So why can\u2019t agencies find people?<\/h2>\n<p> According to data from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unioncamere.gov.it\/comunicazione\/comunicati-stampa\/lavoro-primo-report-mismatch-cnel-unioncamere\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Unioncamere<\/strong><\/a>, <strong>Italian companies<\/strong> (not just agencies) <strong>report difficulty in finding staff in 48% of cases<\/strong>. <em>Translation<\/em>: <strong>companies are looking, but they can\u2019t find <em>you<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Why does this happen? Because there\u2019s a <strong><em>mismatch<\/em><\/strong>, in other words a <strong>gap<\/strong>, between <strong>what the agency is looking for and what you manage to include in your very brief introduction<\/strong>. Our industry is highly volatile: it grows, slows down, and constantly reshapes itself into new versions. Agencies are no longer looking for people to add to the headcount\u2014they\u2019re looking for <strong>people who can solve specific problems, in increasingly complex contexts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>If you send 100 identical CVs to 100 different agencies, you\u2019re not job hunting. You\u2019re spamming. And <strong>agencies can smell spam<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>The myth of the \u201cJack of all trades\u201d is dead (and AI killed it)<\/h2>\n<p> If your CV says:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>Graphic Designer \/ Social Media Manager \/ Videomaker \/ SEO Expert \/ Barista<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n\u2026we have a problem.<\/p>\n<p>A few years ago, the \u201cSwiss army knife\u201d was useful. Today, it\u2019s not: <strong>artificial intelligence has already automated basic execution<\/strong>. Anything that\u2019s standardized execution is already replicable\u2014often better and faster.<\/p>\n<p>What isn\u2019t replicable is <em>perspective<\/em>, <em>depth<\/em>, <em>the ability to read a context<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Today agencies are looking for pure verticality, with roles such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>3D wizards<\/strong> who visualize the world through renders.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Data Analysis snipers<\/strong> who see patterns where others see numbers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strategists<\/strong> who understand that <strong>B2B marketing in 2026<\/strong> isn\u2019t \u201cposting on LinkedIn\u201d but <strong>building complex ecosystems<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> The rule is simple: <strong>specialize\u2014or go extinct<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>AI doesn\u2019t eliminate jobs. It eliminates excuses.<\/h2>\n<p> <strong>We all seem terrified that AI will steal our jobs<\/strong>. Spoiler: AI won\u2019t steal your job. Want your application to never even be read? Play one of these roles: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Ghost<\/strong>: emails with the subject line \u201cApplication\u201d (for which role? Who are you? Why are you writing to us?).<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Blind Sniper<\/strong>: sending an Art Director portfolio for an Account position.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Archaeologist<\/strong>: expired WeTransfer links. They\u2019re looking for vertical, useful, readable individuals <strong>who bring something into the agency that wasn\u2019t there before<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what really makes the difference today:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Radical personalization<\/strong>: <strong>prove that you know <em>who<\/em> you\u2019re talking to<\/strong>. Mention a piece of our work you hated or loved. And above all: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">don\u2019t send us the same email you sent our competitors<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Portfolio &gt; CV<\/strong>: we don\u2019t necessarily care if you graduated with top marks in 2012. But we definitely <strong>care about how you think <em>today<\/em><\/strong>. Show us the process, not just polished final renders. Let us see how you solved a problem that was preventing a project from moving forward.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Soft skills (the real ones)<\/strong>: obsessive curiosity, ability to take feedback, suspension of judgment, proactivity. In a market that changes every six months, <strong>the ability to learn is the only hard skill that never ages<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> &nbsp; <\/p>\n<h2>Don\u2019t look for a job. Look for a place where you can be useful.<\/h2>\n<p> Is the market tough? Sure. But it\u2019s not a lottery. <strong>Those who bring real value eventually find space<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Is there too much competition? Absolutely.
